National Novel Writing Month

Ive been getting ready for NaNoWriMo which is National Novel Writing Month. It takes place in November every year. The challenge is to write a 50,000 word novel during that month. I haven’t taken part before but thought I’d give it a go this year. I have decided on a murder mystery this time. I have made extensive notes of characters, who the victim is and the murderer. The plot is of course extensive as well. Never having written a murder mystery I’m not sure how it will turn out but I think I can pull it off. It will be called Murderous Feet. My two main characters will be two chiropodists who will investigate the death of their colleague.

If this works I have plans to feature them in other murder mysteries. In fact I had a good idea last time I saw the hairdresser. She was dying my hair and then washed it in the bath. I was waiting for the landlord to come and look at a problem with the bathroom lights and the dye in the bath was all red. Of course the hairdresser suggested if he came while it was like that he would see it and think it was blood. This got my imagination working and I decided someone was killed in the bath and someone walks in and sees it, screams and runs out. Fortunately the bath had been cleared up before the landlord turned up – only just!! Notes have been written for that possible book.

I’m finding it hard to keep up with myself. All these ideas noted down for future books. I need to get writing. Currently I’m working on Gallows Lane, a novel about a lady who is sentenced to prison after killing her husband and his new partner. I will stop this during November to write Murderous Feet of course and then go back to it. That’s if I haven’t finished it before then which I might do.

I’m still editing Evening Treats and The One Who Got Away.
